Music for 2016

To me, music makes the world go round. A world without music would be a world without feelings. Whether you're happy, sad, angry, in love, crazy, etc... (the list goes on) there's a song out there for every emotion. Most of the time I feel like we'd rather sit and listen to music than have a conversation with someone (or is that just me?!). I love finding new artists and songs that aren't always in the top 40 charts and don't sound just like every other song out there.

My favourite albums are always the Radio 1 Live Lounge albums, I could just listen to those for days on end. I love the music being stripped back and hearing the words properly.

I'm not going to lie, I have often been one of those people driving along with a song full blast pretending to be in a music video, and I will probably continue to do this until I'm at least 80 years old.

I wanted to share my top 3 gems that I've recently found that have either meant something to me and hit an emotion, or that I just think are amazing songs and feel that everyone should know about them. I love finding new music by people that can actually sing and have raw talent.

Matt Woods
My first recommendation is Matt Woods. I first heard him last year on Radio 1 and I am SO glad I got to witness his music. To me, he's one of those great artists that you just can't stop listening to. I had a few ups and downs last year, and his songs saved me a few times. Check out In The Dark and Impression.

Charlie Healy
If you watch X Factor you will remember a boyband that was on there a few years ago called The Risk. I'd always been a fan of them so was delighted when one of the members Charlie started letting us hear his soulful voice via YouTube. I recently heard Charlie's cover of Justin Bieber Love Yourself and it is amazeballs. Subscribe to his channel to check out some other fab covers such as Ed Sheeran and Nick Jonas (plus he's really nice to look at). I can't wait to hear more of his stuff throughout 2016!

Troye Sivan
I can't stop listening to Troye's new song called Youth. You may have heard it being played on Radio 1 a few times recently. I hadn't heard any of his songs before but this one stood out as it's extremely catchy and doesn't sound like anything else that's about at the moment. I feel like we've had a stage where there's been the same songs played over and over again, so this was a breath of fresh air when I first heard it. Check it out and let me know what you think.

I could go on and on and on... My Spotify playlists are about as long as Inspector Gadgets go-go arm. I'll keep adding my new music finds throughout the year, and hopefully you'll find something that you love. Let me know if you've got any recommendations!
